What is tanning?

How old do I need to be to use a sunbed?

You must be 18 years or older to use a sunbed.

Is indoor tanning safe?

When used responsibly and according to recommended exposure times, indoor tanning can help users achieve a gradual tan. Always follow salon advice and manufacturer guidelines.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments may be available depending on the salon location.

What should I wear during a tanning session?

You may wear swimwear or tan according to your personal preference. Protective eyewear is always required.

Why do I need protective goggles?

UV light can damage your eyes. Approved tanning goggles must be worn during every session.

Why is my skin type important?

Your skin type determines your recommended tanning time and helps reduce the risk of overexposure.

How do I find my skin type?

Skin Type 1

  • Very fair skin
  • Red or blonde hair
  • Blue or green eyes
  • Always burns
  • Never tans

Not suitable for UV tanning.

Skin Type 2

  • Fair skin
  • Light eyes
  • Burns easily
  • Tans slowly

Recommended beginner exposure: 3-5 minutes

Skin Type 3

  • Medium skin tone
  • Sometimes burns
  • Gradually tans

Recommended beginner exposure: 5-8 minutes

Skin Type 4

  • Olive or light brown skin
  • Rarely burns
  • Tans easily

Recommended beginner exposure: 6-10 minutes

Skin Type 5

  • Brown skin
  • Very rarely burns
  • Tans very easily

Recommended beginner exposure: 8-12 minutes

Skin Type 6

  • Dark brown or black skin
  • Never burns

Should I remove makeup?

Yes. Clean skin helps achieve a more even tan.

Can I use tanning lotions?

Yes. Use lotions specifically designed for indoor tanning.

Should I shower before tanning?

Yes, but avoid heavy moisturisers, perfumes, and deodorants immediately before tanning.

How often can I tan?

We recommend allowing at least 24-48 hours between sessions.

What if I feel uncomfortable during the session?

Press the emergency stop button and leave the sunbed immediately.

Who should not use a sunbed?

Do not use a sunbed if you:

Have been advised by a doctor to avoid UV exposure

Are under 18

Have Skin Type 1

Have a history of skin cancer

Are taking photosensitive medications

Can medications affect tanning?
